We are a group of dedicated residents who care passionately about all things sustainability and climate action.
The idea for the task fore came about in 2015 when a group of residents wanted to encourage the city of Des Moines to take bolder steps to address climate change and asked the city to for a citizen-led task force to help the city do this. In 2016, the City Council made creation of the task force one of their top goals in the strategic plan in 2016 and voted to create the task force.
The Task Force is made up of residents, non-profits, businesses, and city staff based in Des Moines, IA and is open to anyone living or working in Des Moines that is interested in moving forward the goals, visions, and values of the Task Force and the City related to sustainability and climate action.
